Mainardi, Sebastiano

    0.06 sec.

Mainardi, Sebastiano (died 1513)

Italian painter. Active from 1493 in Florence, he is said to have collaborated with Domenico Ghirlandaio in a fresco of The Assumption of the Virgin (Sta Croce, Florence), and a series of frescoes in San Gimignano, Tuscany, has been attributed to him.

He was a pupil and assistant of Ghirlandaio, whose sister he married. Many of the works ascribed to him should more accurately be described as from the studio of or by a follower of Ghirlandaio.
