Majo, Gian Grancesco di (1732-1770)

Italian composer. He was a pupil of his father, Giuseppe di Majo (1697-1771), maestro di cappella at the court at Naples, and later of Padre Martini in Bologna. He was appointed second organist at court in 1750, but lived chiefly as an opera composer.

20 including Ricimero, rè dei Goti (1758), Astrea Placata (1760), Cajo Fabricio, Ifigenia in Tauride (1764), Eumene (unfinished at his death, completed by Errichelli and Insanguine).
