Malinovsky, Rodion Yakovlevich (1898–1967)

Russian soldier and politician. In World War II he fought at Stalingrad, commanded in the Ukraine, and led the Soviet advance through the Balkans to capture Budapest in 1945 before going east to lead the invasion of Manchuria. He was minister of defence 1957–67.
