Malone, Moses (Eugene) (1954- )

US basketball player. A highly talented player, he went straight from high school into professional basketball at the age of 19. After playing two years in the American Basketball Association (1974-75), he played centre for the National Basketball Association (NBA) Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers, Washington Bullets, Atlanta Hawks, and Milwaukee Bucks. He won the league's Most Valuable Player award three times (1979, 1982, and 1983) and was selected 12 times as an All Star centre. An outstanding rebounder, he is third on the NBA's all-time offensive rebound list and is the fifth highest all-time point scorer. Malone was born in Petersburg, Virginia. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001.
