Manon Lescaut

Ballet by Halévy (scenario by Scribe, based on Prévost's novel, choreography by Jean-Pierre Aumer), produced at the Paris Opéra on 3 May 1830.

Opera by Auber (libretto by Scribe, based on Prévost's novel), produced at the Opéra-Comique in Paris on 23 February 1856.

Opera by Puccini (libretto, in Italian, by M Praga, D Oliva and L Illica, based on Prévost's novel), produced at the Teatro Regio, Turin, on 1 February 1893. Manon and Des Grieux elope, thwarting the schemes of Geronte, who wants her for himself. Later Manon lives with Geronte, but on seeing Des Grieux returns to him. In revenge, Geronte has her arrested. She is deported to America, where she dies in Des Grieux' arms.
