Manresa

Town in the province of Barcelona, northwest Spain, on the River Cardoner; population (2001) 64,000. It is an important textiles town; products include cotton and tyres. Manresa has a Gothic church and a 17th-century baroque church, the latter adjoining the cave in which St Ignatius Loyola lived for some time following his conversion.
