Manteca

City in San Joaquin County, central California, 16 km/10 mi south-southeast of Stockton; population (1990) 40,800. Situated in the northern San Joaquin Valley – a region known for its grapes, olives, and vegetables – it has historically been a centre of dairy farming, yet is also home to winemaking and other agriculturally related industries.
