Manuel Deutsch, Nicolaus

    0.03 sec.

Manuel Deutsch, Nicolaus (1484–1530)

Swiss painter, poet, and reformer. His works included a Dance of Death (of which only copies exist) for a monastery in Bern and the Beheading of John the Baptist (Basel) in an ornate and fanciful style with much curious detail. He studied painting in Colmar and in Venice under Titian. In later years he was active in diplomacy and public affairs and as an advocate of the Reformation.
