Manx cat

Breed of domestic shorthaired cat originally bred in the Isle of Man, Britain. Its most distinctive feature is its nonexistent tail, the result of a natural mutation. The true Manx cat or ‘rumpy’ has a dimple at the base of the spine, while the variety with a residual tail or ‘stumpy’ is also recognized. The forelegs are short with longer hindlegs giving rise to the characteristic ‘Manx hop’, a rabbit-like gait. It has a strong, muscular body type. Most recognized colour combinations are permitted for the Manx.

In 1970 a long-haired form of the Manx was bred in the USA called the Cymric.
