Marfan syndrome

Inherited connective tissue disease resulting in long, thin bones, poor eyesight (due to dislocation of the lens) and potentially serious cardiovascular anomalies. Victims, who grow to unusual height, may need surgery to reinforce a weakened aorta. Two genes coding for fibrillin, the defective protein in connective tissue, have been located. Abraham Lincoln is thought to have suffered from Marfan syndrome.
