Margaret of Valois (1553–1615)

French Queen. She was married in 1572 to Henry of Navarre (later Henry IV of France). After the St Bartholemew's Day Massacre Henry fled from Paris and was not rejoined by his wife until 1578. Margaret and Henry were divorced in 1599.

She was the daughter of Henry II of France and Catherine de Medicis. She was a patron of the arts.
