Margot-la-Rouge

Opera in one act by Delius (libretto by B Gaston-Danville); composed 1901–02, vocal score by Ravel in 1902. It was unperformed in Delius' lifetime but part of score was used in the Idyll of 1930. Given in orchestration by Eric Fenby by the BBC on 21 February 1982; the Delius orchestration was then discovered and given at stage first performed in St Louis on 17 June 1983. Old flame Thibault is accidentally killed by Margot's new lover when he lunges at her during an argument. Margot then kills her lover and is arrested.
