Marinduque

Island province of the Philippines, situated south of Luzon Island and northeast of Mindoro Island; area 958 sq km/370 sq mi; population (1997) 200,000. The capital is Boac. Gold, copper, and iron ore are mined, and lime is produced. Other products include rice, hemp, and coconuts. There are rich fishing grounds in the area. The port of Marlanga is to the southeast.
