US marines in action on the Korean front in 1951. Under the command of General Douglas MacArthur, the United Nations sent troops to aid South Korea during the Korean War.

Fighting force that operates both on land and at sea. The US Marine Corps (1775) is constituted as an arm of the US Navy. It is made up of infantry and air support units trained and equipped for amphibious landings under fire. The United States Marine Corps is considered by many to be the epitome of a combined arms fighting force.
