Mark, Herman Francis

Mark, Herman Francis (1895–1992)

Austrian-born US chemist. He was a pioneer in polymer chemistry. In 1928 he became director of I G Farben in Germany; in 1933 director of the Chemical Institute at the University of Vienna, Austria; and in 1944 director of the Polymer Institute of the Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, New York. Mark was born in Vienna, Austria, and emigrated to the USA in 1938.
