Marquand, Allan

Marquand, Allan (1853–1924)

US art historian. He taught at Princeton University (from 1881), and specialized in cataloguing the works of the Della Robbia family of Italy. Marquand was born in New York City. He graduated from Princeton University in 1874, studied theology, then studied at the University of Berlin, Germany (1877–78), and Johns Hopkins University, gaining his PhD in 1880.
