Marrero

Community in Jefferson Parish, southeastern Louisiana; population (1990) 37,000. Marrero lies on the west (southern) bank of the Mississippi River, opposite New Orleans. Though largely residential, it also has riverfront and canalside industries manufacturing chemicals, paper, and other products.
