Marschner, Wolfgang

Marschner, Wolfgang (1926– )

German violinist. He studied at the Dresden Conservatory and at the Salzburg Mozarteum. From 1963 he was professor at Freiburg im Breisgau. He has appeared at the Edinburgh Festival and with the Berlin Philharmonic and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras. He has founded several violin competitions and is a noted exponent of the Schoenberg concerto, which he premiered in London in 1960 and also performed in Vienna.
