Marshall, David Saul

Marshall, David Saul (1908–1995)

Singapore politician. As leader of the Labour front, he campaigned for radical constitutional reform in Singapore. In 1955 Marshall became chief minister, and visited London regarding proposed changes in Singapore's constitutional status. In 1956 the London conference ended without agreement and Marshall resigned.

He was educated at Raffles Institution and London University. Marshall was succeeded by Lim Yew Hock, and himself subsequently formed a new left-wing group in Singapore.
