Marshall, Margaret (1949– )

Scottish soprano. She studied in Glasgow and with Hans Hotter and won the Munich International Competition in 1974. The following year she made her London debut. She appeared in Florence 1979, as Eurydice, and returned in 1979 as Mozart's Countess. In 1980 she repeated this role at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London and made her US debut, with Boston Symphony Orchestra, appearing later with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1982 she sang Fiordiligi at La Scala, Milan and at Salzburg. In the 1991–92 season she appeared as Violetta at Frankfurt and as Fiordiligi and Vitellia at Salzburg.
