Martin, Kenneth

    0.06 sec.

Martin, Kenneth (1905–1984)

English painter and sculptor. Strongly influenced by constructivism, he turned to geometric abstraction in the late 1940s. From 1951 he began making mobiles, initially under the influence of Alexander Calder; his ‘screw mobiles’, elements arranged around a single rod, create an illusion of changing form as the work revolves. He often collaborated with his wife, the sculptor Mary Martin (1907–1969).
