Maruzin (or Marusin), Yuri (1947– )

Russian tenor. He studied in Leningrad and made his debut at the Maly Theatre there in 1972. He joined the Kirov Opera in 1978 and appeared with the company at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, in 1987, as Lensky in Eugene Onegin. Subsequently he appeared at La Scala, Milan in Rimsky-Korsakov's The Tale of Tsar Saltan (1988); at the Vienna Staatsoper, as Mussorgsky's Galitsin; at San Francisco Opera, as Anatol Kuragin in War and Peace; at Edinburgh, as Andrei Khovansky (1991); and at Glyndebourne, as Hermann in The Queen of Spades (1992).
