Mason, James (Neville) (1909-1984)

English film actor. He portrayed romantic villains in British films of the 1940s. After Odd Man Out (1947) he worked in the USA, often playing intelligent but troubled, vulnerable men, notably in A Star Is Born (1954). In 1960 he returned to Europe, where he made Lolita (1962). He appeared in more than 100 films during his career.

Other films include The Wicked Lady (1946), Five Fingers (1952), Julius Caesar (1953), North by Northwest (1959), Georgy Girl (1966), Cross of Iron (1977), and The Boys from Brazil (1978). His final role was in The Shooting Party (1984).
