Mass of Bolsena, The

Fresco by the Renaissance painter Raphael Sanzio (1512–14) in the Stanza d'Eliodoro of the Vatican, Rome. It is widely considered one of his greatest works.

Commemorating the pontificate of Julius II, it refers to the pope's suppression of schism. It shows an unbelieving priest convinced of the doctrine of transubstantiation by the miraculous bleeding of the host.
