Master of Trebon

    0.20 sec.

Master of Třebon (lived mid–late 14th century)

Anonymous Bohemian Gothic painter. He created the paintings that form part of an altarpiece in the Augustinian church at Třebon, now in the National Gallery, Prague. The outstanding panel is The Resurrection about 1380.

The panels combine the Gothic tradition of art in Bohemia with influences coming from Italy and France. The Resurrection in particular shows its creator to have been an innovator in the use of light and shade and a designer of great originality and power.
