Mateine is actually a synonym to caffeine within its chemical composition but some people are able to tolerate a mate drink better than coffee or tea since mate contains different chemicals and its physiological effects are similar to (yet distinct from) more widespread caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea or guarana drinks.
Che Mate is naturally low in caffeine, instead the active compound is mateine which stimulates the central nervous system without the shakes, sleeplessness or addiction.
