Opera by Rossini (libretto by J Ferretti), produced at the Teatro Apollo, Rome, on 24 February 1821. Corradino orders poet Isidoro to murder Matilde for supposedly allowing his enemy Edoardo to escape from the dungeon. When Matilde's innocence is proved, Corradino resolves to commit suicide, but is prevented by Edoardo and his father Raimondo.
