Matthew, William Diller (1871–1930)

Canadian palaeontologist. He was on the staff of the American Museum of Natural History (1895–1927); among his major contributions to the mammalian palaeontology of Asia and North America was his theory of the northern origin of the mammalian orders. Matthew was born in St John, New Brunswick, Canada.
