Maurras, Charles Marie Photius (1868–1952)

French writer. The leading spirit of the extreme nationalist movement Action Française, he was imprisoned 1945–52 as a collaborator during the German occupation of France. His works include criticism, prose tales, and poetry, and his collected writings about World War I were published as Les Conditions de la victoire/The Terms of Victory 1916–18.

His other works include Les Amants de Venise, George Sand et Musset/The Lovers of Venice 1902, L'Avenir de l'intelligence/The Future of Intelligence 1905, La Musique intérieure/Music within Me (poems) 1925, Au Signe de Flore (political reminiscences) 1931, Dictionnaire politique et critique/Political and Critical Dictionary 1931–34, and Mes idées politiques/My Political Ideas 1937.
