cockchafer

European beetle Melolontha melolontha, of the scarab family, up to 3 cm/1.2 in long, with clumsy, buzzing flight, seen on early summer evenings. Cockchafers damage trees by feeding on the foliage and flowers.

The larvae live underground for up to four years, feeding on grass and cereal roots.

We've also had some interesting times with peacocks and one time we had an influx of May Bugs (a harmless hornet-type buzzer who like to dive bomb Shakesperian actors, apparently).
The crisis itself may not be the problem; what may bug you is another person's reaction to that crisis
The cockchafer is known colloquially as the May bug or May beetle because, you've guessed it, it tends to appear in May.
