Maybole

Village in South Ayrshire unitary authority, Scotland, 13 km/8 mi southwest of Ayr; population (2001) 4,550. Shoes and agricultural implements are manufactured here. Culzean Castle, built in the late 18th century and designed by Robert Adam, stands on a spectacular cliff-top site 6 km/4 mi to the west.

One of the area's main tourist attractions, Culzean Castle contains tropical gardens and a flat given to the US President Eisenhower. Maybole itself possesses an old castle, and the ruins of Crossraguel Abbey lie nearby.
