Mazaruni

River in northern Guyana, which rises in the Guiana Highlands and flows approximately 560 km/348 mi in a wide curve northwards, then eastwards and northeastwards through the tropical forests to the Essequibo River at Bartica. Because of its many rapids, the river is only navigable near its mouth.
