Mazurok, Yuri (1931– )

Russian baritone. He studied in Lviv and Moscow and made his debut in 1964 at the Bolshoi as Eugene Onegin, later singing Andrei in War and Peace in Moscow. He appeared at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in 1975, as Renato and made his US debut two years later in San Francisco. In 1979 he sang Escamillo at the Vienna Staatsoper and in 1993 Scarpia at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York. Other roles include Rossini's Figaro and Verdi's Posa and Germont.
