Mazzuchelli, Samuel (Charles) (1806–1864)

Italian-born US Catholic missionary priest. He was a Dominican seminarian and was ordained in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1830. After missionary work among the American Indian peoples of the the Mackinac Island region, he established parishes, designed churches and public buildings, and ministered to settlers over a vast area of the Mississippi valley. Mazzuchelli was born in Milan, Italy, and emigrated to the USA in 1828.
