McConnell, David Hall

McConnell, David Hall (1858-1937)

US business executive. He began his career with a batch of perfume in 1886 and founded California Perfume Company (later Avon Products) to sell perfume, toiletries, and cosmetics door-to-door. The company sales force numbered 5,000 within 12 years and 30,000 by the 1930s. He was Avon's owner, president, and chairman until his death. McConnell was born in Oswego, New York.
