McHenry

City in McHenry County, northeastern Illinois, 77 km/48 mi northwest of Chicago; population (1990) 16,200.

McHenry has long served as a summer resort for resudents of Chicago, and increasing numbers of people have been drawn to live here by the abundance of lakes and other attractive scenery. Moraine Hills State Park lies just southeast, and Wonder Lake is 6 km/4 mi to the northwest. Pistakee Lake is located 5 km/3 mi northeast
