McKay, Clarence Hungerford (1874-1938)

US businessman and philanthropist. He entered his father John W McKay's business and worked on completing an international telegraph and cable system. McKay was born in San Francisco, California. He studied in Paris, France, and graduated from Beaumont College, England, in 1892. He donated large sums of money to various projects, was a famous host at his home in Roslyn, Long Island, and collected medieval armour. He lost his fortune in the stock market crash of 1929.
