McMinnville

City and seat of Yamhill County, northwestern Oregon; population (1990) 17,900. McMinnville lies 27 km/17 mi north-northwest of Salem, and is an important centre for regional farming, winemaking and lumber industries.

McMinnville it was settled in 1844. Its manufactured goods include mobile homes, paint, and electronic components, and it is the site of Linfield College (founded 1849). The Spruce Goose, a huge flying boat built by the eccentric tycoon Howard Hughes, was brought here in 1992 after having been stored for many years at Long Beach, California.

McMinnville

Town and seat of Warren County, in east-central Tennessee; population (1990) 11,200. McMinnville lies midway between Nashville (to the northwest) and Chattanooga (to the southeast), on the Barren Fork, a branch of the Caney Fork River.

McMinnville is located in an agricultural area, and has had woodworking, mining, and textile industries. A celebrated early school of photography flourished here in around 1906–29.
