Meadows, Audrey

Meadows, Audrey (c. 1922– )

Chinese-born US television comedian. Trained as a singer, she was featured on radio in the Bob and Ray Show, then appeared on television's Jackie Gleason Show (1952–55). She played Ralph Cramden's long-suffering wife, Alice, on the Honeymooners (1955–56). A regular on television comedy shows, she later appeared on Murder She Wrote in the 1980s and on CBS's Uncle Buck (1990–91). The daughter of US missionaries, Meadows was born Audrey Cotter in Wu Chang, China.
