Meckenen (or Mekenen or Mecheln), Israel von (c. 1445–1503)

German engraver and goldsmith. He is usually identified with the painter Meister Israel, 18 of whose works hang in the Pinakothek of Munich. They are religious in subject, and are clearly influenced by Jan van Eyck.
