Meigs County

Administrative district in southeastern Ohio; area 1,119 sq km/432 sq mi, population (1990) 23,000. On the east and southeast, the county is bounded by the Ohio River, where it forms the border with West Virginia. Its seat is at Pomeroy.

The county is primarily rural, with market gardening, and dairy, fruit, grain, and livestock farming. Some manufacturing takes place at Pomeroy. Natural resources here include coal, limestone, and salt.
