Meiland, Jacob (1542–1577)

German composer. He learnt music as a choirboy in the Saxon court chapel at Dresden, studied at Leipzig University, travelled, and was the appointed Kapellmeister to the Margrave of Ansbach, whose chapel was dissolved in 1574. Meiland was Kapellmeister to the Hohenzollern court at Heichingen from 1577.

Works

Latin and German motets; cantiones sacrae for five–six voices; German songs for four–five voices.
