Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Die

Music drama by Richard Wagner (libretto by composer), produced at the Court Theatre, Munich, on 21 June 1868. The work is inspired by the Meistersinger tradition: in the plot Walter wins Eva in a song contest, but only after tempering his passion with the wisdom of Hans Sachs.
