Melford Hall

    0.04 sec.

Melford Hall

House in Suffolk, England, 5 km/3 mi north of Sudbury. It was built in the second half of the 16th century, and incorporates the remains of the manor house of the abbots of St Edmunds. It was given by the Treasury with some contents to the National Trust in 1960. A turreted brick Tudor mansion, it has changed little since it was built in 1578; the interior includes an original panelled banqueting hall.

Later additions include an 18th-century drawing-room, a regency library and a Victorian bedroom. The house has collections of English furniture and Chinese porcelain.
