mint

In botany, any aromatic plant of the mint family, widely distributed in temperate regions. The plants have square stems, creeping roots, and spikes of usually pink or purplish flowers. The family includes garden mint (M. spicata) and peppermint (M. piperita). (Genus Mentha, family Labiatae.)
