Mentzner, Susanne (1957- )

US mezzo-soprano. She studied at the Juilliard School and made debut at Houston in La donna del lago (1981). Appearances followed at Dallas Opera; Washington Opera, as Cherubino; and at the New York City Opera, as Rosina. She sang with Cologne Opera from 1983, as Cherubino and Cendrillon and made her debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London in 1985, as Rosina, returning there as Jane Seymour (Anna Bolena, 1988) and Dorabella (1989). From 1989 she appeared at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, as Cherubino, Idamante, the Composer, and Octavian. Other roles include Adalgisa (Monte Carlo) and Annius in La Clemenza di Tito (La Scala and Chicago).
