Merriam, Mansfield (1848-1925)

US educator, writer, and civil engineer. He taught civil engineering, first at Yale University (1877-78), then at Lehigh University until 1907. During this period he was often a consulting engineer on hydraulic and bridge problems. He wrote and edited numerous books and articles on engineering. Merriam was born in Southington, Connecticut.
