Merriman, Henry Seton (1862-1903)

English novelist. Among his best-known works are In Kedar's Tents 1897, Roden's Corner 1898, The Isle of Unrest 1900, The Velvet Glove 1901, The Vultures 1902, Barlasch of the Guard 1903, and The Last Hope 1904.

He was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Educated in Loretto and Wiesbaden, he was for some time an underwriter at Lloyd's, then adopted a literary career, winning success with his Russian story The Sowers 1896.
