Fireball lily Scadoxus multiflorus, Mount Meru, Tanzania. The genus Lilium contains some 80 to 100 species. Lilies are highly valued as ornamental plants and are among the oldest cultivated plants, with evidence for their use for medicinal purposes during the 2nd millennium BC in Asia Minor.

Mountain in northern Tanzania, lying 65 km/40 mi southwest of Kilimanjaro. It has an altitude of 4,565 m/14,977 ft and a surface crater. The town of Arusha stands at its foot in a zone of intensive coffee cultivation.
