Meta

River in eastern Colombia; length 1,040 km/646 mi. The Meta has its source in the Sumapaz glacier, 64 km/40 mi south of Bogotá. It flows northeast to join the River Orinoco on the Venezuelan border. The Meta runs through a department of the same name.
